How Public Benefits May Help Victims of Domestic Violence and Other Crimes (CVLN)

In honor of National Crime Victims' Rights Week, the Crime Victims Legal Network (CVLN) Team at Empire Justice Center is hosting a webinar on how public benefits can help domestic violence victims and other victims of crime.
Victims of crime, especially victims of domestic violence, may need financial resources and support to recover from crime or to leave an abusive partner. This webinar is a general overview of public benefits available to low-income New Yorkers. It will include a review of: a) the different types of public benefits including cash assistance, SNAP, HEAP, and child care; b) the basic eligibility rules; c) the application process and special rules for victims of crime; and d) issue spotting using case examples and hypotheticals.

Presenters: Susan Antos, Managing Attorney, Empire Justice Center Haley Kulakowski, Supervising Staff Attorney, Empire Justice Center
